Pyrite Architecture

Exhibitionview TWO SHOTS 2012 / Boutique Cologne / Pyrite Architecture / object for the wall / Chipboard painted, plastic gold mirror / 190 × 100 cm

The object was created from an investigation of formal developments, the polarity and proximity of natural and culturally motivated forms. The work follows the principle of two different substances, which lead to different forms in the formation of rocks, but connected with each other through their development. Inspired by the pyrite rock, which appears in cubic and polygonal form and is often connected to another rock, the wall object takes up the idea of two form principles from different origins and links them together. The outer form looks like an abstract landscape, which reflects the formation of a form created by nature, the cubic form, which is related to architecture, reflects a cultural impulse that takes up natural principles but turns against them with a different force.
